Bron’s Top 12 Personal Development Material Recommendations

I created this list based on what resources have helped me the most so far on my personal development journey.

I don’t expect these materials to resonate with everyone who reads or listens to them, for every person is at a different place in their own development.

Having said that, all of these materials have received international praise from people of all walks of life. Given that you have an open mind to learning and growing, I guarantee you will have a significant positive shift in your life upon the completion of any or all of these resources.

Just because a book or program has not made it on this list does not make it any better or worse than the ones that aren't.

These are simply my top picks -- the ones that have not only had a significant impact on my life, but also the ones I have continuously recommended over the years to people who are wanting to be happier and more successful in their lives.

There are other books and programs I will recommend  in later blog articles. For now, here is my Top 12 Personal Development Material Recommendations listed in chronological order from my first to latest discovery.

1. Psychology of Achievement by Brian Tracy

Brian Tracy is Chairman and CEO of Brian Tracy International, a company specializing in the training and development of individuals and organizations. I had to put this on the list for two reasons:

1. The quality of the education remains high even after years of its initial publication.

2. It was the first personal development audio program I listened to that got me significantly excited about the idea of becoming a better person.

Brian’s loving, welcoming voice will bring you practical, easy-to-understand guidance on why you suffer as a human being, and how to evolve it. The principles are universal and will resonate with anyone whose interested in living a greater life!

2. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

Unless you're brand new to the personal development industry, or you were living under a rock when it was publicized in 2006, it is likely you have heard of "The Secret."

I had to include this book because it was the first time I was introduced to the idea that we create our own reality. This book set off a rocket of desire within me to further understand the process at which I manifest my experience through my thought-vibration. It’s the tip of the iceberg of some key success principles, but a great intro read, watch, or listen for anyone with an open mind to discovering their true power within themselves.

Note- If you watch the movie version be sure to watch the original that features Esther Hicks. Its contents are more accurate and potent.

3. Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Considered to be the top personal development book of the 20th century, Think and Grow Rich has played a key role in thousands of people’s success stories since its original publication in 1937. To this day, people are still discovering and benefiting from it.

Employed by Andrew Carnegie, the richest man in the world at the time, Hill took 20 years to interview the most successful business men with the intention of creating a complete “success manual.” Think and Grow Rich is a watered down version of the original manuscript (The Law of Success in 16 lessons), yet still holds superb teachings on how to build success in ones life.

4. The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle is considered to be one of the top mainstream spiritual teachers today. Aside from introducing me to the timeless space of awareness within myself, this book saved my life when I first read it. While I was teaching English in China in 2007, my girlfriend at the time cheated on me with one of my friends back home in Canada. Already feeling completely alien to China’s culture and environment, I was struggling significantly to hold onto my sanity. The Power of Now reminded me of who I truly am on a spiritual level, connecting me to the awareness that all suffering and struggle is a choice. It was a milestone in my spiritual journey. When my girlfriend told me the news, it added to the negative momentum I had accumulated, leading me to the point of contemplating suicide. If I didn’t have the tools that Tolle produced, I don’t know if I would have held on like I did.

I believe The Power of Now will remain a classic for years to come in the field of personal and spiritual development.

5. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

I added this book to the list because the impact of its teachings matches its simplicity. The Four Agreements has changed hundreds of thousands of people’s lives with its extremely practical guidance on how to let go of your suffering and step into an empowered life. Ruiz’ humble yet potent impression will give you hope, guidance, and enlightenment for a life-experience free of inner noise and resistance.

6. A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

This book further explores the inner workings of the ego and how to consciously build a happier existence. It brings the teachings of The Power of Now into an even more practical and applicable format for the reader to use in their daily life. Like the Power of Now, one must not adopt any new belief systems in order to make “it” work. It is a wonderful reminder of who we are, why we are here, and how to begin creating an even greater life experience for all beings who desire to do so.

7. The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz

Who doesn’t want to master love? Introduce yourself to what it means to be loved, and truly love another. Learn what it means to express love with integrity and poignancy. The Mastery of Love is a tool anyone can use to experience a greater sense of self love and self knowing. A favourite among any life that it touches.

8. Holosync by Bill Harris of Centerpointe Research Institute

Holosync is an audio program that has been scientifically proven to train the right and left hemispheres of ones brain to synchronize, thus producing a more actualized, productive, coherent, and centred life-experience for the user.

I don’t use Holosync anymore, but I did for many years as I was first learning how to meditate and quiet my mind at will. Suffice to say, it was life changing. Holosync is a powerful technology and it does work. I only recommend it to those who are wanting to make significant internal shifts in their lives and are willing to follow its instructions.

9. All Work Produced by Steve and Erin Pavlina

I first stumbled upon Steve and Erin Pavlina in 2009 when I was first curious about making personal development a possible career choice.

Steve’s blog, Personal Development for Smart People, is the most popular blog of its kind on the internet. One of his specialties is tackling highly spiritual concepts and explaining them in depth from a logical, practical perspective. His blog is robust with enough content to fill 40+ books and is regarded by many to be one of the most influential resources in the field.

Erin is said to be one of the top intuitive counsellors in the world. Without coming across as “airy-fairy,” her work is also practical, applicable, and highly insightful. The impact she’s had on my life is immeasurable and I consider her to be one of my closest friends to this day.

I highly recommend checking out their extensive work if you are wanting to grow as a conscious human being.

10. Ask and It Is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks

The authors of this book have had the greatest impact on my life thus far. Ask and It Is Given is the basic essence of everything Abraham has been teaching since 1986. A practical guide to the metaphysics of manifesting your desires into your life experience, this beautiful book will be read many times by those who are ready for its teachings.

I personally recommend anything and everything written and recorded by Jerry and Esther Hicks.

11. Your Wish is Your Command by Kevin Trudeau

On the heals of the teachings of Abraham-Hicks, Your Wish is Your Command is a 13 hour audio program that has completely changed the quality of my life. Even though the presenter of the information, Kevin Trudeau, is one of the most controversial figures in the industry, the message is sound and incredibly powerful when applied properly. Not everyone will be ready for its contents because not everyone is ready to experience their highest power. Listen and watch what happens when you apply the teachings in your life.

Note- I am in no way affiliated with The Global Information Network in which Your Wish is Your Command publicizes.

12. Conversations with God books 1-4 by Neale Donald Walsch

I have to admit, I was originally sceptical of the quality of these books before I read them. However, I couldn’t put down the first book the moment I started reading it.

I recommend these books to anyone who is open to listening to some very powerful and accurate information on who we truly are and what it means to be a human being. What is our purpose as a human species? What is “God’s” perspective on love, consciousness, personal empowerment, freedom, sex, money, politics, education, aliens, and so much more? This is a gold mine of personal development knowledge, tools, and information.

Go in with an open mind and you won’t be disappointed.
